SAN DIEGO -- Construction is in full swing along Park and El Cajon boulevards to improve streets and build amenities for the launch of the Mid-City Rapid bus line in 2014.
Mid-City Rapid will be a high-speed, limited-stop bus service between San Diego State University and Downtown San Diego along El Cajon and Park boulevards. The 10-mile project will provide North Park, City Heights, and College area residents, students, and workers with a fast and reliable way to get around in one of this region’s key transportation corridors.
The latest construction updates, according to SANDAG, include work on Park Boulevard between University and Polk avenues where crews are currently working to build transit-only lanes and station platforms in the center median.
On El Cajon Boulevard at 30th and 35th streets, crews are upgrading underground utilities, sidewalks, street lights and traffic signals, in addition to building new bus stations.
Work is generally progressing south to north on Park Boulevard between University Avenue and El Cajon Boulevard and west to east on El Cajon Boulevard between Park and College Avenue.
